Was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations on February 25, 2020. Marchesini, born in the Netherlands to an Italian family, worked as a local employee at the Italian embassy in the Hague. Although he had no diplomatic status or protection, in the summer of 1942 he smuggled 15 members of the extended Jewish Dunkelgrün family over the border to Antwerp in Belgium. Using an embassy car, he made five rounds driving from the Hague to Antwerp, with three family members hiding in the car each time. Eleven of his wards made it to Switzerland and survived. Four, including the grandfather Menasseh Dunkelgrün, were caught and murdered.
